Most sports art looks at the players. Frenchy likes to look behind the cameras. Sports Video Group caught up with him after a 2025 run that included FOX Sports' Super Bowl LIX studio on Bourbon Street and two paintings at the Indianapolis 500: one of the FOX Sports studio and one of the FOX crew on pit road.
The feature traces a sports resume that goes back to the 1996 Atlanta Olympics, with later work at the Sydney and Salt Lake City Games. In 2001, a painting of his auctioned at a breast cancer fundraiser went to Saints owner Tom Benson, which led to eight seasons painting Saints games from behind the sideline. After that came ESPN's Monday Night Football, starting with the Mike Tirico, Ron Jaworski and Tony Kornheiser booth. Kornheiser even showed off his painting on his other show.
Along the way Frenchy has also painted for the Cleveland Cavaliers, the New York Yankees and other baseball clubs. He credits former MNF producer Jay Rothman for opening the door to television production work.
“I'm really about capturing the guys working behind the scenes.”
